ER 308H is a high-carbon stainless steel welding filler wire (AWS A5.9) with ~20% Chromium and ~10% Nickel, designed for welding similar austenitic stainless steels (like 301, 302, 304H) in high-temperature service, offering increased strength and creep resistance due to its restricted carbon content (0.04-0.08%). It provides excellent weld bead appearance and mechanical properties, making it suitable for chemical, petrochemical, and food processing industries, though it's more costly than standard carbon steel.

Composition: A chromium-nickel stainless steel with elevated carbon (0.04-0.08%).
High-Temperature Strength: The higher carbon provides greater tensile and creep strength at elevated temperatures (up to 700C).
Weldability: Offers good toughness, smooth bead finish, and is used for joining unstabilized stainless steels.
Corrosion Resistance: Provides good general corrosion resistance, though not as high as 308L in chloride environments.
