About ER 80SNi 1

ER80S-Ni1 is

a copper-coated, low-alloy steel solid wire for gas-shielded welding (TIG/MIG) of high-strength steels, notable for its excellent low-temperature impact toughness (down to -50C/-58F) due to its nominal 1% nickel content, making it ideal for offshore, pipeline, and pressure vessel applications in cold environments, providing high strength (around 550 MPa / 80 ksi) and good weldability.

Key Characteristics:

Classification: Meets AWS A5.28 ER80S-Ni1 standard, often used for fine-grained steels.
Composition: Contains about 1% Nickel (Ni) and controlled amounts of Manganese (Mn) and Silicon (Si) for strength and toughness.
Low-Temperature Performance: Key feature is high Charpy V-notch impact strength at sub-zero temperatures (e.g., -45C to -60C).
