The welding filler metal ER80S-Ni2 is a copper-coated, low-alloy steel wire or rod containing approximately 2.5% nickel, designed specifically for welding fine-grained and low-alloy steels that require excellent impact toughness and high strength at sub-zero temperatures.

Composition: The nominal composition typically includes 2-2.75% Nickel (Ni), Manganese (Mn), and Silicon (Si), with maximum limits on carbon, sulfur, and phosphorus. The nickel content is key to its performance in cold conditions.
Performance: It produces high-quality, crack-resistant, and potentially radiographic-quality welds with high impact values down to temperatures as low as -60C (-76F).
Mechanical Properties: The weld metal typically yields a tensile strength of around 80 ksi (550 MPa) and good ductility.

Welding Process
