About ER 316Lsi
ER316LSi is a low-carbon, silicon-enhanced stainless steel filler wire (AWS A5.9) for welding 316/316L grades, offering superior corrosion resistance (especially pitting), excellent arc stability, smooth weld beads with less spatter, and good mechanical properties, ideal for chemical, marine, and process industries due to its resistance to intergranular corrosion and high-temperature strength. The 'L' denotes low carbon, preventing carbide precipitation, while 'Si' (Silicon) improves fluidity and bead appearance.
Key Characteristics & Benefits:
- Composition: Contains 18% Chromium, 12% Nickel, 2% Molybdenum, with added Silicon and low Carbon (max 0.03%).
- Weldability: High silicon provides a stable arc, smooth flow, and excellent wetting action, reducing post-weld grinding.
- Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to general corrosion, pitting, and intergranular corrosion, especially in marine and chemical environments.
- Mechanical Properties: Offers good strength at high temperatures and toughness at cryogenic temperatures.
- Appearance: Produces fine-rippled, shiny weld beads with good toe blending.
- Applications: Chemical plants, shipbuilding, process industries, architectural, and general fabrication.
