An E310-16 is an AWS (American Welding Society) classified stainless steel welding electrode, specifically designed for high-temperature applications, depositing a 25% Chromium / 20% Nickel (25Cr-20Ni) alloy, providing excellent oxidation resistance up to 1200C, used for welding AISI 310 steels, heat-treated furnace parts, and dissimilar metals.
High-Temperature Performance: Offers excellent resistance to oxidation and scaling at elevated temperatures (up to 1200C).
Weld Quality: Produces a smooth, uniform bead with easily removable slag and good appearance.
Application: Ideal for welding type 310 stainless steels, clad steels, and joining carbon steels to stainless steels in high-heat environments like furnace components, combustion chambers, and turbines.
Versatility: Can also be used for dissimilar welding of various carbon and alloy steels where preheat is difficult.
Welding Notes
Heat Input: Calls for minimum heat input to maintain the austenitic structure and prevent cracking.
Preparation: Requires proper drying (baking) to remove moisture and clean surfaces to prevent defects.
Current: Typically runs on AC or DC+ (direct current, electrode positive)
