About E316LT-1 FLUX CORED WIRE

E316LT-1 is a gas-shielded, flux-cored welding wire for low-carbon stainless steels (like 316L), offering excellent corrosion resistance and all-position welding capability using DC+ polarity with CO2 or Argon/CO2 gas, ideal for chemical, marine, and food processing equipment due to its low carbon content minimizing carbide precipitation and preventing intergranular corrosion. It produces smooth welds, easy slag removal, and low spatter, making it efficient for high deposition rates.
Key Characteristics:
  • Classification: AWS E316LT1-1 (or similar like -4).
  • Material: For welding 18%Cr-12%Ni-2%Mo stainless steels (e.g., Type 316L).
  • Low Carbon (LT): The "L" signifies low carbon (typically <0.03%), enhancing resistance to intergranular corrosion, notes Washington Alloy.
  • Position: "1" indicates it's suitable for all-position welding (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
  • Shielding Gas: Used with 100% CO2 or Ar/CO2 gas mixtures, according to Made-in-China.com.
  • Polarity: Uses Direct Current Positive (DC+).
Benefits:
  • Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to pitting and intergranular corrosion, vital for Xycore Inc. (food, chemical, marine) applications.
  • Weld Quality: Smooth, stable arc, low spatter, and easy slag removal for aesthetically pleasing, flat welds.
  • Efficiency: High deposition rates, especially in flat/horizontal positions, reducing downtime.
Common Applications:
  • Fabrication of pressure vessels, tanks, and piping for chemical, dairy, pulp & paper, and refinery industries, as described by Washington Alloy.
  • Welding similar 300-series stainless steels (301, 304, 308) where enhanced corrosion resistance is needed.
