ER 317L is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel filler metal (wire/rod) used for welding similar stainless steels, offering superior corrosion resistance, especially against pitting and crevice corrosion in aggressive chemical environments due to its higher molybdenum content than 304L/316L, making it ideal for chemical processing, pulp & paper, and power generation equipment. Its low carbon content prevents sensitization, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance, while providing good strength at high temperatures and toughness at cryogenic temperatures, available for TIG, MIG, and other welding processes.
Key Characteristics
Composition: High chromium, nickel, and molybdenum content (higher than 304L/316L).
Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and various acids (sulfuric, phosphoric).
