About ER 320LR
ER320LR is a low-residual stainless steel welding wire (classified under AWS A5.9) similar to ER320 but with tighter control on carbon, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur to prevent micro-fissuring and hot cracking, offering excellent corrosion resistance in harsh chemical environments like sulfuric acid for welding Alloy 20/Carpenter 20Cb-3, tanks, and heat exchangers.
Key Characteristics
- Low Residuals (LR): Lower levels of carbon, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur, plus controlled niobium and manganese, minimize cracking issues common in fully austenitic steels.
- Corrosion Resistance: High resistance to severe corrosion, especially from sulfuric and sulfurous acids and salts.
- High-Temperature Performance: Good resistance to oxidation, scaling, and high temperatures.
- Weldability: Available for TIG, MIG, and Sub-Arc, providing smooth arcs and radiographic quality deposits.
