About ER 347

ER347 is a columbium (niobium) stabilized stainless steel filler metal used for welding Type 347 and 321 stainless steels, offering excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion and good high-temperature strength, making it ideal for chemical, food processing, and petrochemical applications where durability and purity are essential. It prevents carbide precipitation, maintaining corrosion resistance even in severe conditions.

Key Characteristics

Stabilized: Contains niobium (Nb) and sometimes tantalum (Ta) to tie up carbon, preventing chromium carbide formation at grain boundaries.
Corrosion Resistance: Offers good resistance to general corrosion and is particularly effective at high temperatures (above 750F / 400C).
High-Temperature Strength: Maintains mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.
