About ER 4043

ER4043 is a widely used, general-purpose aluminum filler alloy (5% Silicon) for MIG/TIG welding, known for its excellent fluidity (wetting) and low crack sensitivity, making it ideal for joining common aluminum grades like 3003, 5052, 6061, and 6063, and casting alloys, offering bright welds but a gray color post-anodization.

Key Characteristics:

Composition: Primarily Aluminum with 5% Silicon (Si).
Performance: Offers good fluidity, excellent wetting action, and reduced cracking, making it a smooth-running choice.
Applications: General fabrication, repair, and welding of various aluminum alloys, including 3003, 3004, 5052, 6061, 6063, and cast alloys (43, 355, 356, 214).
Weld Appearance: Produces bright, shiny welds with a stable arc and minimal spatter, but the weld will appear gray after anodizing, unlike the base metal.
Standards: Conforms to AWS A5.10 specifications.
