About ER 308Lsi
ER308LSi is a low-carbon, high-silicon austenitic stainless steel welding wire (20Cr/9Ni) used for MIG/TIG welding common stainless steels like 304L, 308, and 308L, offering excellent corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, and smoother welds due to added silicon for improved flow, wetting, and ferrite control to prevent cracking in "18-8" type steels.
Key Characteristics:
- Composition: Contains low carbon (L) to prevent intergranular corrosion (weld decay) and added silicon (Si) for better weldability, wetting, and a smoother bead.
- Type: Austenitic (non-magnetic) stainless steel, a chromium-nickel alloy.
- Applications: Ideal for food industry, chemical plants, pipes, tanks, and general fabrication of 304/304L stainless steels.
- Performance: Provides good corrosion resistance, strong welds, and controls ferrite content (5-10%) to resist hot cracking.
- Welding: Used with Argon-based shielding gases (e.g., Argon + 2% O) for MIG/GMAW, typically with DCEP (Direct Current Electrode Positive).
