About ER 385 (904L)

ER 385 (904L) is a high-alloy, super-austenitic stainless steel filler metal used for welding similar base metals, offering excellent resistance to pitting, crevice, and stress corrosion cracking, especially in aggressive media like sulfuric and acetic acids, thanks to its high nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and copper content, plus controlled low carbon, silicon, and sulfur for reduced hot cracking. It's ideal for chemical, pharmaceutical, and fertilizer industries, providing a ferrite-free weld with good cryogenic toughness for joining 904L, 317L, 304, or 316 steels.
